River Endrick Voluntary Work Party
27th September 2020
Following some advance planning and scoping an enthusiastic group of LLAIA members gave up their Sunday to perform some much needed river maintenance work. The team of eight volunteers focussed upon the stretch of the Endrick between Balfron and Ballochruin Bridges. The main scope of work involved improving access to and casting coverage within this stretch of the river where debris was removed and low overhanging tree branches were sympathetically trimmed. The results of this voluntary effort were plain to see to all involved where access to the historically productive stretches and pools had been significantly improved for all. This is a marvellous example of improvements that can be achieved by like minded volunteers and a little advanced planning in order to improve and maintain the access and quality of our fishings. The video below provides a very brief overview of the voluntary team in action and their results.
Thank you to all of those who gave up their Sunday in order to provide their time and efforts to maintain and improve our system.
If you have suggestions for river improvements or would like to volunteer to participate in a future work party then please contact us at reports@lochlomondangling.com
LLAIA Bailiffs apprehend poacher on the River Leven
On Sunday 23rd September a person was found to be fishing the Bonhill Pool. The LLAIA Bailiff attended and apprehended the person who was subsequently cautioned and charged by Police Scotland. All fishing equipment was seized and Police investigations are now underway in conjunction with evidence provided. Yet another example of the commitment and responsiveness by our Bailiffs in protecting our fishings from those who mistakenly believe that they can flaunt the law.
Two chances to win a Free 2021 River Leven Season Permit!
You will be aware from earlier posts about the importance of identifying, reporting and providing scale samples of all farmed salmon captured by all anglers across the Lomond system To reinforce just how important it is for all anglers to do so and to recognise the efforts from anglers and members we are offering anglers two opportunities to win a River Leven Season Permit for the 2021 Season.
To be eligible to win then anglers simply require to continue to report and provide the required information including scale samples as per the information and instructions previously provided.
