“THREE men have been fined for breaching Covid-19 travel restrictions after driving more than 40 miles to fish at Loch Lomond. Three men reportedly drove from Airdrie to go fishing in Loch Lomond despite the lockdown ban on such activities
Having been approached by L.L.A.I.A. water bailiffs police officers reportedly found the trio fishing in the loch near Arden on Wednesday afternoon.
All fishing, both permit and course, is currently suspended due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, though restrictions on some solo outdoor pursuits, fishing among them, are due to be lifted on May 28 as part of the easing of lockdown restrictions.
The three men, aged 28, 33 and 34, had allegedly driven from Airdrie to fish in the loch.
As well as receiving fixed penalties for breaching the lockdown regulations, all three men also had their fishing gear seized.
They will additionally be the subject of reports to the procurator fiscal for alleged breaches of the Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries Act”.
